U.S. postal service is trying to end the next day mail

WASHINGTON (Reuters)-cash-strapped US Postal Service on Monday to move forward with a plan to end the next-day delivery of letters, postcards and other class letters.

In a notice filed with the regulator, also seeking approval to close more than half of the processing facility that has been the opening, critical for next-day delivery.

Postal Regulatory Commission would study the proposed changes and issued a nonbinding advisory opinions.

Moving can create some headaches for mailers, particularly publishers of newspapers and magazines, industry observers said. But they say the hassles of depending on how the postal service to implement change.

The postal service, which has been struggling to offset falling mail volume and annual losses of billions of dollars, was first announced in September it will study the processing site for may 252 closure by 2012.
